An email update from the Bankside Press team

Welcome to the first [ SE1 Direct ] mailing of 2001.
Apologies for not getting this mailing distributed
earlier, but we have been delaying publication in order
to bring you news of our fantastic restaurant search
facility.

A big welcome to the many subscribers who have signed
up since our final bulletin of 2000. We hope to be back
on a more regular publishing schedule from now on.

[ SE1 Restaurant search ]

Well, we've been promising you a full restaurant search
facility for ages, and at last it's live and online,
featuring well over 100 eateries right across the SE1
area.

To give it a try, just visit http://London-SE1.co.uk
and search for a restaurant name. For a wider range of
search options, visit
http://www.London-SE1.co.uk/restaurants/

Please let us know what you think so that we can refine
the service - already in the pipeline is a facility for
website users to submit their comments and ratings for
the restaurants featured on the site.

Please note that at present the Restaurant search is
separate from the main site search facility. We hope to
integrate the search engines in the near future.

[ London 2000 photographic competition ]

Winning entries from the BBC's competition to find
images of the capital in the year 2000 are now on
display on the Mayor of London and Greater London
Authority's website. As you would expect, images of SE1
feature prominently amonst the winners, with the London
Eye and Tate Modern making multiple appearances in the
online slideshow. Konditor & Cook's bakery in Cornwall
Road is also captured on film.

[ Life x 3 to transfer to Old Vic ]

The new Yasmina Reza play Life x 3 is to transfer to
the Old Vic from 12 February.

Life x 3 concerns a dinner party that goes horribly
wrong when the guests turn up a day
early.

It is directed by Matthew Warchus, who was also
responsible for Reza's hit play Art. The original cast
of Imelda Staunton, Harriet Walter, Shakespeare's Globe
creative director Mark Rylance and Oliver Cotton will
remain for the Old Vic run.

The news follows the earlier than expected closure of
Adventures in Motion Pictures' The Car Man, which ends
tomorrow.
