[ Sainsbury's site: public exhibition ]

This weekend there's a chance to find out more about
Sainsbury's plans for their headquarters site in
Stamford Street when they relocate to Holborn later in
the year.

A public exhibition our the proposed redevelopment of
Stamford House and Drury House is being held in
Wakefield House, next to the Mad Hatter on Stamford
Street.

The site for the proposed Sainsbury's Central
supermarket is the corner of Rennie Street where it
will be part of a new development of the island site
bounded by Blackfriars Road, Upper Ground, Rennie
Street and Stamford Street.

The existing buildings will be replaced with a complex
which includes a 19-storey office block on the site of
Drury House opposite the Express building.

The exhibition will be open today until 8pm, and on
Saturday between 10am and 4pm. Members of the
development team from Sainsbury's and Stanhope plc will
be on hand to answer questions.

Highlights include Signalling at Sea on board HMS
Belfast, the 1940s Experience at the Imperial War
Museum, theatre and music for children at the National
Theatre and Tate Tales at Tate Modern.

[ A Beach Party ... in SE1 ]

With a good weather forecast for the weekend ahead, why
not head for the beach - without leaving SE1!

Reclaim the Beach is a monthly "organised coincidence"
on the beach in front of the Royal Festival Hall, and
the next gathering is due to take place this Sunday
from 2pm, with low tide at 3.45pm
