GM NATION? HAVE YOUR SAY IN THE PUBLIC DEBATE
Friday 4 July
6.45pm-9pm at a venue near Borough Market
The Government is sponsoring a public debate on whether
or not to introduce Genetically Modified crops to the
UK in the autumn. Now is the time to get involved in
the debate and have your say! Do you want GM crops
growing in the UK? Can GM and non-GM crops co-exist?
Will consumer choice be threatened? How safe is GM
food? Can GM help solve world hunger? What are the
threats or benefits to the environment?
Come to a meeting to learn more about these issues.
There will be speakers outlining the case for and
against GM crops but the focus will be on your
questions and discussion.
You will also be able to fill in a feedback form to
contribute your own views to the official public debate
report to the Government.
Speakers include Lord Melchett, policy director at The
Soil Association and Dr Dave Carmichael, an arable
farmer and NFU member (tbc).
