THE ROMAN CEMETERY AT No. 1 AMERICA STREET, SOUTHWARK
Tuesday 24 February

Melissa Melkian talks about the recently discovered
Roman cemetery in America Street (off Southwark Bridge
Road). A Southwark and Lambeth Archaeological Society
event.

POTTERS FIELDS DEVELOPMENT: LOCAL RESIDENTS' MEETING
Thursday 26 February
8pm at 1st Floor, Nutmeg House, 60 Gainsford Street
Berkeley Homes is proposing a major development on the
car park and Lambeth College site next to the Potters
Fields park by Tower Bridge. Berkeley Homes' plans will
be the subject of a public inquiry in April. The Tooley
Street & Tower Bridge Community Association has
organised this meeting to help formulate a strategy to
ensure the the views of local residents are well
represented at the inquiry and will be taken into
account by the inspector. Invited speakers include Sue
Page from Bankside Residents' Forum on "What's facing
the community?", Lisa O'Donnell from Southwark Council
on "Southwark's view" and writer and Bermondsey
resident Jonathan Meades on "Our choices". Wine and
snacks will be served.

SURE START SATURDAY MORNING DROP-IN
Saturday 28 February
10am-12 noon at Bermondsey Village Hall
Open day for local families with a child under 4 years
old. Sure Start is a Government programme bringing
together early education, childcare, health and family
support.

NETWORK THEATRE COMPANY OPEN DAY
Sunday 29 February
2pm at the New Arch Theatre, below Waterloo Station
Local amateur theatre group Network Theatre Company is
holding an open day. Members of the group will explain
how the company works and what is coming up over the
next year. Visitors are welcome to stay for the reading
afterwards. The New Arch Theatre is hidden away
underneath Waterloo station - see website for
directions.
