BERMONDSEY POST OFFICE CLOSURES: PUBLIC MEETING

Simon Hughes MP will chair a public meeting for those
concerned about the plans to close the Bermondsey
Street and Abbey Street post offices. Representatives
from Postwatch and Post Office Ltd have accepted
Simon's invitation to attend.

MORE MUSIC: FINAL WEEK - MORE LATIN SENSATIONS

Following the success of More London's inaugural music
festival in 2003, More Music returns to the Scoop this
summer with three weeks of concerts.  Featuring some
favourites from last year's line-up as well as brand
new acts, More Music will be tapping into the talent of
the  different types of musicians in London. This week
is the final week and has a latin theme, culminating in
a fiery display of music and dance on Saturday 21
August.  
* Wednesday 18 August - BARNEY DICKINSON LATIN JAZZ
With this quartet, Barney delivers astounding
arrangements of Latin jazz classics from all eras of
this wonderful genre, leading his rhythm section with
his smooth and inspirational playing that combines
musicality and technique in equal measure. 
* Thursday 19 August - GABRIEL NUZZOLI
Gabriel has made his name by performing as
percussionist in Ricky Martin's all-star band as well
as filling the drum stool in Anastasia��s touring band. 
* Wednesday 20 August ORCHESTRA DE FIESTA FEATURING
GARETH LOCKRANE
This dynamic Quartet are best know for there amazing
Latin Flavours and beat. Lead by the virtuoso flautist
Gareth Lockrane, the group will play non stop Latin
dance with a chilled funky groove. 
* Saturday 21 August - GATO LOCO
Led by the stunning vocals of Leoanel Gamboa, and with
Simon Colam on piano, the band will perform some of the
best-known Latin classics, all with an exciting edge.
Accompanied by feisty Latin dancers, the group will
create a little bit of Latin Summer in the Scoop

VIVA SOUTH AFRICA AT THE COIN STREET FESTIVAL

The South Bank becomes South Africa for Coin Street
Festival's Viva South Africa. Celebrating 10 years of
the rainbow nation, this South African fiesta is a
chance for Londoners and South Africans alike to join
together in celebration of South Africa's freedom and
culture. The weekend of entertainment features top SA
musicians performing on two stages, children's
activities and a plethora of delicious food and drink.

TREES FOR LONDON PRESENTS "ALL A BOARD"
Saturday 21 August
Trees for London, the Kennington Park-based charity
that's greening loads of SE1 streets through tree
planting, sets sail on the Thames again on Saturday
for its summer fundraising boat party. "All a Board" is
a daytime disco affair, heading east from Swan Pier by
London Bridge (on the north bank) at 3pm and returning
to Bankside Pier by Tate Modern at 8pm. DJs on board
are Tim Webster (Indulge/Glorious) and our residents
Jonathan Moore and Keiron Hart. Sound comes courtesy of
Funktion-One. There's an on-shore afters at the nearby
Southwark Rooms til 2am, should you fancy. Tickets for
All a Board are available in advance only, are limited
to 200 and cost ��18 each. All profits of course go to
Trees for London's environmental work.

WORKING THE THAMES (EPISODE 3) ON THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL
