CARNIVAL DE CUBA AT THE COIN STREET FESTIVAL
Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 June
2-7pm at Bernie Spain Gardens; free

Be transported to the heart of Havana at an authentic
Cuban street party that will magically recreate the
colour, vibe and passion of the Latin lifestyle on the
South Bank for the weekend. Carnival de Cuba celebrates
Cuban culture in true style with a jaw-dropping music
line up featuring top Cuban and Latin bands including
Osvaldo Chacon, Candido Fabre and Latin Clan plus dance
performances by salsa world champions Rafael and Janet.
Join in salsa dance classes and bring the kids along to
take part in carnival mask making workshops being run
by Mandinga Arts. On both days the Carnival will climax
with what is expected to be the longest ever Carnival
Conga procession led by local children in costumes
designed by Mandinga Arts. Everyone is encouraged to
join in. Cuban cantinas will serve traditional Cuban
food including the classic Cuban dish, Pollo Criollo
(Creole Chicken, made with free-range chicken, fresh
orange juice, sherry and chillies), empanadas and
tamales, with vegetarian options including Garbanzos
Criollo - a Cuban chick pea and vegetable stew. 
Charity Carnival de Cuba has been established to raise
funds for several charities operating in central &
south America and Cuba.
