LGBT HISTORY WALK
Monday 17 July
Meet 6.30pm for 7pm at the George Inn, Borough High Street
Guided walk led by Southwark poet John Constable to mark the
launch of 'Out in Southwark', a new LGBT social group in the
borough. This unusual guided tour explores the history of
sexual identity, with particular reference to LGBT-related
stories. You are also welcome to come and share your own
knowledge and personal anecdotes. The walk lasts up to 2

SOUTHWARK'S A TO Z OF DANCE AT THE SCOOP
Tuesday 18 July
11am-4pm at The Scoop (next to City Hall)
Southwark's A to Z of Dance is part of the national Big
Dance initiative, celebrating and promoting dance in the
lead-up to the 2012 Olympics. Come and celebrate the wealth
and diversity of dance in Southwark with a non-stop
programme of performances and workshops for all ages and
abilities, and featuring a wide range of companies and
styles. Highlights include London School of Samba, Shobana
Jeyasingh Dance Company and Manaia Maori Performing Arts
Company. Plus, Caribbean, Peruvian, African, contemporary,
jazz and street dance and much more.

John Tradescant the Elder's funeral cortege from his house

SAFE IN YOUR CITY - MEET THE RIVERSIDE WARD POLICE TEAM
Wednesday 19 July 
12 noon-2.30pm at More London Riverside
Come to More London Riverside at lunchtime on 19 July and
get the latest tips on how to keep you and your belongings
safe. The London Bridge Business Improvement District
Company, in a joint initiative with the Police, the Safer
Southwark Partnership and More London, has organised an
event by the fountains at More London Riverside to provide
local workers with information and advice on public safety.
At the event you will be able to meet the Safer
Neighbourhood Police Team, pick up information which could
help prevent you from experiencing crime in London, offer
input into what crime prevention initiatives you think might
work, and collect useful kits such as cycle marking and
personal safety alarms.
