[ Octavia Hill Estates: update ]

We reported on the Church Commissioners' plans for a
consultation on the future on the future of the Octavia
Hill estate in Waterloo in the April issue of "in SE1"
and on the website - see
http://london-se1.co.uk/cgi-bin/news/showarticle.pl?985950935

Our report did not make clear the feeling of the
residents of the estates, who will be joined by local
clergy and MPs Simon Hughes and Kate Hoey on a protest
march to the Church Commissioners' offices in York Road
on Monday morning. The demonstrators will be carrying a
palm branch (to symbolise Jesus' reception in Jerusalem
on Palm Sunday) and 30 silver coins (representing the
betrayal of Jesus by Judas).

The demonstration will begin at 10am in Ufford Street,
reaching York Road at 10.45am.

Check out http://www.London-SE1.co.uk on Monday evening
or early on Tuesday morning for photographs of the
demonstration and more on this story.

controversy at

[ Bridget Jones' Diary ]

You can't have missed the hype about the release of
Bridget Jones' Diary on Friday this week. It will be a
must-see for those who live or work in the Borough
Market area, as parts of the film were shot in and
around Bedale Street last year.

In the meantime, you can buy Helen Fielding's book to
prepare yourself for the film:
