======================================================= [ SE1 Direct ] http://www.London-SE1.co.uk Issue 41 | 21 April 2001 ======================================================= An email update from the Bankside Press team We seem to start every bulletin with an apology at the moment, but those of you who have visited the site over the past few days may be wondering why things have been a little strange. Well, we've been changing our hosting provider, and it has proved to be a challenge to reconfigure all the scripts that power the site to work on the new setup. Hopefully we're nearly there now, although there may still be a few quirks here and there. Watch this space over the coming months for details of exciting new web developments from Bankside Press. In the meantime, there's a lot going on in SE1 at the moment, so read on... ======================================================= >> I N T H I S B U L L E T I N ======================================================= * Fun and games in Archbishop's Park * Tate Modern: one year on * Bridget Jones' Diary * This week in SE1 * Southwark Social Investment Forum * May issue of "in SE1" ======================================================= [ Fun and games in Archbishop's Park ] The recently-formed Friends of Archbishop's Park have arranged for two playleaders from Blackfriars Settlement to organise fun and games for children aged between 5 and 11 for two hours every Saturday morning starting today at 11.00am. The initial trial will run for three months. Co-ordinator Sarah O'Connell says "please note that this is not child-care and if your child needs to be accompanied you should be there". Archbishop's Park lies between Westminster and Lambeth Bridges. Entrances can be found in Lambeth Palace Road opposite St Thomas' Hospital, in Lambeth Road opposite Pratt Walk, and in Carlisle Lane. O'Connell adds that "the Park is the largest green space in the area and worth getting to know. Appication forms to join Friends of Archbishop's Park can be obtained from the parkkeepers' hut in the Park." - What do you think of Archbishop's Park? But what impact has the phenomenally successful gallery had on the people who live and work in the Bankside area? We're preparing a feature for the May issue of "in SE1", and we'd love to hear your comments on Tate Modern's first year. At the Clubland event 28 stalls proclaimed the range of community efforts" The market place stalls included the Bermondsey-based New Economics Foundation, Southwark Heritage Association and Southwark Young Pilgrims, as well as groups like Southwark Local Exchange Trading System.
