SE1 GOES LIB DEM AS LABOUR LOSES LAMBETH
Every ward in SE1 is now held by the Liberal Democrats
following Thursday's elections. Both Lambeth and
Southwark Councils now have no party with overall
control.

MAYOR OPENS IMPROVED RIVERSIDE WALK
Mayor of London Ken Livingstone was on the South Bank
yesterday to open the newly refurbished riverside walk
between Oxo Tower Wharf and the National Theatre.

The Cty Hall building next to Tower Bridge has been
completed and is being handed over to the GLA this

PLANNING GO-AHEAD FOR CHILDREN'S THEATRE
Southwark Council has given the go-ahead to Unicorn's
plans for a new children's theatre on the More London
site in Tooley Street.

AGA KHAN IN ROW WITH ST THOMAS' HOSPITAL 
Consultants at St Thomas' are preparing to chain
themselves to railings if the southern end of the
hospital site is sold to the Aga Khan.

A new bus route using the latest low emission vehicles
started in SE1 on Saturday.

BRAMAH TEA & COFFEE MUSEUM
Friday afternoon. Teatime. We sat munching Flap Jacks
and moist carrot cake with a creamy topping
(excellently delicious) whilst talking and drinking in
both fragrant teas and history at the Bramah Tea &
Coffee Museum.

The plot of Space Station 3D pitched to a movie exec

MAY THE 4th BE WITH YOU AT THE IMAX
Saturday 4 May
On Saturday 4 May the BFI London IMAX Cinema is
offering Star Wars fans the opportunity to indulge
their passion with a marathon screening. To celebrate
George Lucas' much anticipated Episode II: Attack of
the Clones, the cinema is limbering up by playing all
previous films back-to-back in 35mm format.

CUTTING STONES - SOUTHWARK'S SANCTUARY FOR THE SICK
Sunday 5 May
2.30pm at the Old Operating Theatre, 9a St Thomas'
Street; �3.75 (conc �2.75)
In Europe's only surviving 19th century operating
theatre, an illustrated lecture on the medical
metropolis that once existed at London Bridge. For six
centuries St Thomas's Hospital provided treatment for
the deserving sick poor, and became renowned for
surgeons such as Cheselden, Cline, and Cooper, all of
whom operated without benefit of anaesthesia or
antiseptics.

Gwyneth Paltrow was amongst the guests at the Young Vic
least week at a fundraising gala performance of Doctor
Faustus (starring Jude Law) to raise funds for the
theatre. The play was followed by a lavish after-show
party hosted by Vanity Fair at the ultra-cool Baltic
bar in Blackfriars Road. Trainspotting's Jonny Lee
Miller and Lady Helen Windsor also figured on the guest
list.
