Sack race, Egg and Spoon race, Three-legged race. http://www.bost.org.uk or email [email protected] SOUTHWARK GOES ONLINE IN FIGHT AGAINST GUNS Wednesday 13 August 7pm-9pm at http://www.southwark.gov.uk Gun crime and young people will be the subject of the first ever discussion forum event on Southwark Council's revamped website this Wednesday. As part of the relaunch the site will host regular discussion forum events where experts and councillors answer queries, in real time and online, on key issues. The first event - on gun crime - brings together Lucy Cope, who set up the Mothers Against Guns campaign group after her son, Damian, was shot last year and Mark Smith, who was a victim of gun crime and who now campaigns against guns in the community. They are joined by Southwark Council Leader Nick Stanton and Southwark Borough Police Commander Ian Thomas. FIRST WORLD WAR POETS Thursday 14 August 6.45pm at the Calder Bookshop, 51 The Cut The First World War produced a wealth of great poetry - much of it written in the trenches, and often by poets who would never make it home, such as Rupert Brooke and Wilfred Owen. Two actors will read poems from the and John Calder will talk about the poets themselves. A discussion will follow.
