THAMESLINK 2000 CONSULTATION AT LONDON BRIDGE
Tuesday 25 November to Friday 28 November
12 noon-7pm on the London Bridge station forecourt
Exhibition showing Network Rail's current proposals for
Blackfriars and London Bridge stations. The display
panels are available online as PDF files.

LOWER MARSH CHRISTMAS PARTY
Wednesday 26 November
5.30pm-8pm in Lower Marsh, Waterloo
All the shops will make a special effort this year"
lights, decorations and a 50ft Christmas tree are
arriving in Lower Marsh. Shops owners and market
traders have been asked to dress up in Traditional
Victorian clothes for the party.
Late night shopping til 8pm -
5.30pm: free hot sangria and mince pies served outside
Cubana Restaurant and Bar, Lower Marsh
6pm: see the presentation of prizes for Best Dressed
Festive Window in Lower Marsh and The Cut. Businesses
and residents alike compete for Old Vic Theatre tickets
to see Steven Berkoff in 'Messiah', free flights on the
BA London Eye, and many more special prizes
5.30-8pm: musical entertainment including a live salsa
band performing alongside festive favourites

KING ALFRED IN SOUTHWARK
Tuesday 25 November
7.30pm at Hawkstone Hall, Kennington Road; �1
Southwark & Lambeth Archaeological Society lecture.
John Clark of the Museum of London gives the first of
three talks. This one is King Alfred in Southwark and
some London Mysteries. Preceded by the society's annual
general meeting at 7.15pm.


TRADITIONAL FAMILY FUNFAIR IN BERNIE SPAIN GARDENS
Thursday 27 November to Sunday 21 December 
Daily  12 noon-10pm
Enjoy family rides and Victorian-style funfair stalls

SPEAKABILITY FUNDRAISING CONCERT AT ST JOHN'S
Thursday 27 November
6.30pm at St John's, Waterloo Road; �15 (concessions
available); includes mulled wine and mince pies.
This is an amazing opportunity to hear opera stars
singing their own popular choices while at the same
time supporting the national charity SPEAKABILITY and
benefiting people with speech and language problems
(known as aphasia or dysphasia) following a stroke,
head injury or neurological condition.

LOCAL RESIDENTS MEETING RE. 100-140 UNION STREET
Thursday 27 November 
7.15pm at 11 Thorold House
The decision on planning permission for 100-140 Union
Street will be made soon, probably on Monday 1
December. Anyone wanting to voice an opinion should
come to a local residents meeting . Residents need to
choose who will represent them at the planning meeting
and decide what they will say.

Anti-war protesters spelled out their message to the US
President on Tuesday night at Tate Modern - "Bush go
home". Around 80 people layed down in the Turbine Hall
