SOUTHWARK POETRY SLAM 1 ONLINE TODAY
Monday 15 December
12-2pm at http://www.southwark.gov.uk and at City
Learning Centre, Camberwell New Road, SE5
Participants in Southwark's first-ever online poetry
workshop will get involved in a range of activities,
with performance poets and DJs on hand to provide
encouragement and support in getting the creative
juices flowing. Young people at the event - or logged
to the Southwark website - will be able to add a line
to Southwark's epic online community poem, launched in
October with Poet Laureate Andrew Motion providing the
opening line, 'In Southwark, where the river bends its
bow...'

LORD OF THE RINGS - THE RETURN OF THE KING @ CORONET
From Wednesday 17 December
Times to be announced; Coronet Cinema, New Kent Road;

Fresh from the success of the Elefest film festival
last month, the Coronet cinema at the Elephant and
Castle is showing this year's Christmas must-see movie,
the final part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Support this new community venture by seeing the film
here rather than at a multiplex. The film is rated 12A
and contains intense battle, violence and horror
scenes.

ROSE THEATRE OPEN DAY

In connection with the ongoing frost fair at
Shakespeare's Globe, the Rose Theatre trust is staging
a series of open days at its site in Park Street. Come
along and experience what has captured the imagination
of some of this country's most famous artists 
and feel a part of history.

Sam Dastor reads from Shakespeare's sonnets, chosen as
an autobiographical story of the Bankside playright's
loves. Don't miss this great performance.  It�s bound
to be a talking point. Shakespeare in Love is part of
the Rose celebrations for Christmas in conjunction with
the Frost Fair at Shakespeare's Globe. Tickets

Resolutions? Keep them both at once by joining Geoids,
a local theatre society, based in SE1. They are looking
for more men to sing, dance and play Gangsters &
Gamblers in Guys & Dolls.  If you've never done
anything like this before, now�s your chance.
