BOROUGH & BANKSIDE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Wednesday 3 March
7pm at Charles Dickens School, Lant Street
Monthly meeting for residents of Cathedrals and Chaucer
wards. Agenda includes a presentation by Peter Williams
of Better Bankside on the Business Improvement District
pilot project, where businesses in Bankside help to
fund environmental improvements and ongoing maintenance
in the area. There will be an update on policing issues
in Borough and Bankside. Workshops will discuss topics
and issues for future community council meetings and
ideas for projects that would improve the local area.
There will be a presentation and opportunity to comment
on a Lighting Strategy for the Bankside area as part of
the Section 106 agreement for the Bankside 123
development on Southwark Street (the St Christopher
House site).

LOCAL RESIDENTS' OPEN DAY AT THE SOUTH BANK CENTRE
Saturday 6 March
10am-4pm at the Hayward Talk Space
People involved in the area are invited to drop in find
out about the South Bank Centre's plans and how they
will affect them. Guests will have the chance to meet
the Royal Festival Hall's new Project Director, Ian
Blackburn, Commercial Director Mike McCart and other
colleagues, who will lead one-hour guided tours around
the Royal Festival Hall and immediate site at 10.30am,
12.30pm and 2pm. This will be an informal opportunity
to hear about the construction programme, see the
latest landscape designs, share a coffee or tea and get
the answer to any questions you may have.

Democracy, written by Michael Frayn, won the "Best New
Play" award by the 2003 Evening Standard Theatre
Awards. It is being preformed in the Royal National
