LIFE BEGINS AT 30: ITC THEATRE SHOWCASE AT MORE LONDON
Friday 2 July
12 noon-6pm at More London; free

The Independent Theatre Council is celebrating its 30th
birthday on Friday. Throughout the day there will be an
exciting an array of theatre and performance art
showcased around More London from a variety on the
ITC=92s member organisations.  This will culminate in an
=91alternative fireworks display=92 in the evening.

INTERNATIONAL CO-OPERATIVE DAY: COIN STREET FESTIVAL

2-7pm at Bernie Spain Gardens, South Bank, free

Celebrate co-operation in its many forms at this free
festival. Through a superb line up of world music (with
a distinct Latin feel), street theatre and children's
workshops plus information stalls from the Co-operative
Group family of businesses, this event not only aims to
promote the international co-operative movement but
promises to be great fun too. Alongside the music, this
event also includes art and craft workshops for
children (mask making, instrument making and wind sock
making) and roving street theatre performances. Come
and find out more about the multitude of co-operatives
in this country and how they fit into a much larger
international movement. There will be food and drink
stalls with an emphasis on fair trade.

The Olympic Torch Relay came to Southwark on Saturday,
passing along the riverside from Tower Bridge to the

John Caudwell, Britain's seventh richest man, had his
=A35,000 bike stolen while at an Olympic torchbearers'
reception at City Hall on Friday night.

Plans to fill Potters Fields with tonnes of sand to
create an urban beach have been abandoned after a row
between organisers Ten Alps and Southwark Council.

The Dresden Cross, made in Southwark, has been placed
on top of the restored Frauenkirche almost 60 years
after it was bombed.

The Countess of Wessex spent several hours in Southwark
on Monday morning visiting a hostel in Borough Road and
