BOROUGH AND BANKSIDE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Monday 5 July
7pm at Charles Dickens School, Lant Street

Meeting for residents of Chaucer and Cathedrals wards.
Business includes an update on local policing issues
and an interim report on the Dickens Square feasibility
study. The item on the Trinity Street road closure has
been deferred to a future meeting. Future meetings will
be held every six weeks rather than monthly.
Followed by planning agenda - applications to be
considered for continued use as a Class A3 restauraunt
without a takeaway service at 48A Great Suffolk Street
(opposite the BP petrol station) and constuction of an
extension to an office building at 4-7 Vine Yard (off
Marshalsea Road).

FRIENDS OF ARCHBISHOPS PARK AGM

Annual general meeting of the campaigning group working
to protect and enhance SE1's largest green space.
Now that the park's lease is in place and a management
plan written, there is real opportunity to capture
investment money and really make a difference. If you
are interested in the park, green issues more generally
or in gaining funding expertise, do come along.

CHAMPOR-CHAMPOR OPENS MARI-MARI SHOP IN SNOWSFIELDS

Popular Malay-asian eatery Champor-Champor is opening a
retail shop just around the corner from the restaurant.
Mari-Mari will be selling a unique selection of
south-east Asian arts and homeware as well as one-off
fashion clothing and jewellery items designed by Adu
Amran Hassan. The official launch of Mari-Mari will be
on Thursday when a number of other local businesses
including Eley Kishimoto, Cockfighter of Bermondsey,
the Percy Miller Gallery and the Fashion & Textile
Museum will be having an open evening.

POTTERS FIELDS PARK DESIGN OPEN DAY

A  free event for all ages to enjoy historical
discovery and discuss the future design of Potters
Fields Park. The open day will include strolling
medieval players, puppet shows, face painting and lots
of pottery-based crafts and surprises.  Staff from
Gross Max Landscape Architects will welcome ideas and
comments  to help them redesign Potters Fields as a
world class park. Once plans are agreed, construction
is expected to start at Potters Fields in October 2005.
