VINOPOLIS FOOD AND WINE EXTRAVAGANZA Tuesday 19 to Thursday 21 October Normal opening hours apply; Vinopolis, 1 Bank End Map: http://quicklink.se1direct.co.uk/?id=742 The three-day event will mark five years of growth and development for London's wine-tasting visitor attraction. A food court will occupy the Iberian area of the Vinopolis tour, giving guests a chance to sample the Latin spirit: tapas prepared using fresh ingredients from Borough Market along with Vinopolis's selection of Spanish wines and sherries. Sponsors for the event include: Neal's Yard with samples of its world famous cheeses. These will be dotted around the tour, to illustrate which cheeses and wine complement each other; Cellar Trends who are donating a delectably mellow Faustino wine, Hatch Mansfield who are supplying the flavoursome white Bordeaux, Louis Jadot; and the Siam Winery will be on hand to present a selection of its exotic wines from Thailand. The sights and sounds of singers and dancers that are on hand to delight all of Vinopolis's visitors will enhance all these taste sensations. A wine tasting session at 3pm on the 19th hosted by Susy Atkins will offer guests an entertaining guide to the wines available for sampling and to demonstrate the art of tasting like a professional. http://www.vinopolis.co.uk ROMAN SITE AT SHADWELL: SOUTHWARK & LAMBETH ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY Tuesday 19 October 7.30pm (refreshments from 7pm) at Housing Co-op Hall, 106 The Cut; 1 Map: http://quicklink.se1direct.co.uk/?id=885 Alistair Douglas gives the first lecture at the Southwark & Lambeth Archaeological Society's new monthly lecture venue in The Cut.
