MAUREEN LIPMAN SWITCHES ON WATERLOO CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Wednesday 1 December

Actress Maureen Lipman will light up Waterloo when she
switches on the lights at the Cubana Bar and Restaurant
on Lower Marsh on Wednesday. The Waterloo Green Trust
has been given a tree by Waterloo Road-based venture
capitalists 3i to adorn the Millennium Green. It will
be decorated by local children between 3.30pm and 4pm
and Ms Lipman turns the lights on at 6pm against a
choral background provided by pupils from Johanna
Primary school and Cubana's guitarists. Maureen Lipman
says "I am delighted to be turning on the Christmas
lights in Lower Marsh.  As I am performing at The Old
Vic over the festive period, it is wonderful to be able
to get involved with the local celebrations."

PULLENS' YARDS CHRISTMAS SALE AND OPEN STUDIO EVENT
Friday 3, Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 December

Over 40 artists and craftspeople at Iliffe, Peacock and
Clements Yards will be opening up their studios and
selling their unique work directly to the public.
Hidden away off the Walworth Road, near Elephant &
Castle, the three yards are the last remaining
Victorian mews in central London still used for their
original purpose as work spaces for artisans. The yards
include a diverse range of talented artists and
craftspeople, including everything from musical
instrument makers, ceramicists and photographers, to
furniture designers and leather corset makers. The
Christmas Open Studios are a longstanding event, and
this year there will be free entertainment for the
local community & visitors, with live music including a
Jazz band and lute recital.
