THE HISTORY OF SOUTHWARK WITH TERRY JONES

The Southwark Chamber of Commerce and Southwark Heritage
Association present an evening of information and
entertainment on the history of Southwark. Speakers on local
history include Terry Jones (of Monty Python fame),
Shakespeare's Globe authority Val Alliez and London Bridge
expert Peter Lennard. Terry Jones will be delighted to sign
copies of his latest book for those wishing to purchase them

CHARTERHOUSE-IN-SOUTHWARK OPEN DAY 
Thursday 17 November 
2pm-7pm at Charterhouse-in-Southwark, 32 Crosby Row; free

Charterhouse-in-Southwark, which has been in SE1 for over
120 years, opens its Tabard Street and Crosby Row buildings 
including the church. Music and drama performances, Charlie
Chaplin film, tea dance, children�s entertainment,
information on groups and healthy food.  Afternoon includes
a 'Southwark has changed for the Better' debate at 5pm.

A platform beneath London Bridge Station for independent
painters, sculptures, photographers, illustration and

[ Noticeboard: Carol singers wanted for the South Bank ]

On Tuesday 6 December from 4pm the South Bank Centre will be
launching its Christmas season with a spectacular event on
Festival Riverside.

During the evening the lights will be switched on by a
celebrity, the retailers on Festival Riverside will be
offering free mulled wine and Christmas goodies and there
will be a surprise 'stunt' attracting many members of the
public and the media.

The South Bank Centre would like to invite local charities
and community groups to come down and do some carol singing
to raise funds and their charity's profile on the evening.
