GREAT SOUTHWARK DRAGON QUEST  
Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 April

the many dragons (and their saints) who live hidden in the
buildings, parks and streets of The Borough. Refreshments

FLORA LONDON MARATHON 
Sunday 23 April 
The elite men will reach Tooley Street and Tower Bridge at
approx 9.52 and the elite women at approx 10.23am. 
Tower Bridge will be closed to traffic between 8am and 7pm.
Tooley Street will be closed east of Tower Bridge between
8am and 4pm.

SHAKESPEARE'S BIRTHDAY 
Sunday 23 April
10am-4pm at Shakespeare's Globe, New Globe Walk; free

The Mayor of London is once again backing a day of free
events  at Shakespeare's Globe as a joint celebration of St
George and Shakespeare's Birthday. Roman soldiers and a band
will be outside at 10.15am to welcome Cleopatra who is
arriving by water. She will sail downstream on a boat with
handmaidens and oarsmen in costume. A second boat will be
rowed closely behind carrying musicians providing
accompaniament throughout the journey. Cleopatra�s boat is
the Jubilant replica seen on the river during last year�s
re-enactment of Nelson�s funeral procession. 
The free entry day at the Globe will have a Warriors and
Queens theme and feature Roman side-shows and workshops.
Visitors will able to deliver a line or two from the famous 
stage.

be open to the public to celebrate the Bard's birthday and
the blue plaque unveiled in January by Sir Ian McKellen.
