BRASIL, TO DENTRO! - COIN STREET FESTIVAL
Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 July
1pm-7pm at Bernie Spain Gardens, Upper Ground; free
Translated as 'Brasil, I'm in!' this fabulous free festival
event gives Londoners the chance to savour the Brazilian way
of life. Taking place during the World Cup 2006, no
Brazilian festival would be complete without featuring
football, so there are football demonstrations and
opportunities to take part in competitions. As well as the
footie, top Brazilian music artists perform a mix of cutting
edge contemporary electronic music plus typical forro music
(folklore) and capoeira shows. On Sunday there are costume
making workshops. Using recycled materials children can make
costumes to wear as part of the end of day carnival
procession. Delicious Brazilian food such as coxinha
(chicken pie), cheese bread and delicious fresh fruit
caipirinha and Guarana soft drinks await you.
