BOROUGH AND BANKSIDE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Wednesday 6 September
7pm at Cathedral School,  Redcross Way
Meeting for residents of Cathedrals and Chaucer wards. Meet
your councillors and raise issue of local concern.  Agenda
includes an update on the Elephant & Castle regeneration
programme, Trinity Street closure, Cleaner, Greener Safer
projects and street scene design.  There will also be an
update on local parking issues and news from local police
officers.

THAMES FESTIVAL FAMILY WORKSHOPS
Wednesday 6 to Saturday 16 September
In Toto Theatre is organising these workshops for
Lambeth/Southwark families to participate in the Thames
Fesitval parade under the theme "At the Dawn of Time". These
creative arts sessions are a chance for adults to take part
in the festival - with roles and costumes - alongside their
children (adults without accompanying children should
contact the organisers).

OYSTER & SEAFOOD FAIR
Friday 8 to Sunday 10 September
 Fri 11am-8pm; Sat 11am-7pm; Sun 11am-6pm at Hay's Galleria,
Tooley Street; free
The annual Hay's Galleria Oyster & Seafood Fair is London's
festival of fish.  Arrive with an appetite and feast on
fresh fish supplied by some of the country's finest
fishmongers and cooked in front of you by a team of chefs.
Oysters and seafood will be in abundance and whether you're
in the mood for lobster, langoustines, crayfish or crab,
you'll find a glass of champagne or even a pint of Guinness
to complement them perfectly.  The fair also offers the
opportunity to learn how to prepare the ultimate fish dish
at home, with demonstrations by experts from the National
Federation of Fishmongers and The Seafish Industry

ESTATE DEVELOPMENTS AT LONDON SOUTH BANK UNIVERSITY
Friday 8 to Saturday 9 September
 Fri 10am-7pm; Sat 10am-2pm at Keyworth Centre,  Keyworth
Street
London South Bank University has submitted planning
applications for two new developments on its campus:
Keyworth II will be a new building on Keyworth Street and
house the Health and Social Care Faculty, Department of
Education and provide facilities for the Academy of Sport,
Physical Activity and Wellbeing.   The derelict Presbyterian
Chapel on Borough Road will house the new Student Centre and
a GP surgery (relocated from Princess Street) for local
residents.

FORAGING ON THE FORESHORE
Saturday 9 September
9am-1pm  at Bankside foreshore
Help to collect materials for the community garden mosaic at
Tate Modern. As part of the development of the Community
Garden which is being done in partnership with BOST, a
mosaic has been designed and will be made using materials
collected form the River Thames. It will include items such
as bits of broken Victorian tiles, stones and other exciting
treasures! It will provide an exciting visual landscape to
the garden, rich with history and significance associated
with the river.  Meet archaeologist FIona Haughey who will
be leading the sessions at the top of the stairs leading to
the river just outside the Globe Theatre.  Please remember
to wear suitable footwear and bring some gloves.  Please
note this activity isn't suitable for young children. All
children need to be supervised by a responsible adult.
Please be aware that the foreshore can be slippy and
participants taking part come at their own risk  If you

ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY VISITS SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL
Sunday 10 September
11am at Southwark Cathedral, London Bridge
Dr Rowan Williams will be the preacher at Southwark
Cathedral's Choral Eucharist this Sunday. He will arrive by
boat from Lambeth Palace at London Bridge City Pier at
10.30am where he will be greeted by members of the cathedral
clergy and congregation who will process together to the
cathedral.
