COMMUNITY POLICE CONSULTATIVE GROUP FOR LAMBETH
Tuesday 5 December
6pm at Waterloo Action Centre, 14 Baylis Road
This meeting with the theme Safer Lambeth Partnership
includes a report from Chief Supt Martin Bridger
Metropolitan Police Authority member John Roberts.  The
emphasis is always on allowing public input into borough
wide issues but also to provide an 'open door', where
particular incidents can be raised.  Also present will be
Simon Harding, LBL Assitant. Director Community Safety, and
Byron Green, Lead Scrutiny Officer with the LBL Scrutiny
Team.

CHRISTMAS SERVICE FOR THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY 
Wednesday 6 December
5.30pm at Southwark Cathedral, London Bridge
A service of words and music for St Nicholas Day sung by the
Merbecke Choir.  Followed by the lighting of the Christmas
Tree in the churchyard.  The occasion also marks the launch
of Better Bankside's annual 'Bring a Better Christmas'
appeal.   Followed by mulled wine and mince pies.

CHRISTMAS AT WATERLOO: PIGS AND PRINCESSES
Thursday 7 December
12 noon-8pm in Lower Marsh, The Cut, Emma Cons Gardens and
Waterloo Millennium Green.
The community Christmas event at Waterloo has taken a new
turn this year with a Pigs & Princesses theme to mark the
return of the Young Vic to The Cut and the launch of their
new family show The Enchanted Pig. Characters from the show
will be turning on the Christmas tree lights in Emma Cons
Gardens opposite the Old Vic Theatre.  There will be
activities from 12 noon till 8pm with a Christmas market
along Lower Marsh selling creative Christmas present ideas
and late-night shopping in the numerous independent shops.
There will be live music, street theatre, workshops for
children on the Millennium Green and festive food and drink.
Characters from The Enchanted Pig will perform to the crowds
from the theatre balcony from 5.30pm before processing to
Emma Cons Gardens for the switch-on of the Christmas tree
lights at 6pm.

FULL FATHOM 5 - FREE LUNCHTIME MUSIC AT BOROUGH MARKET
Thursday 7 December
12.30pm-1.30pm  at Borough Market, 8 Southwark Street; free
A selection of Christmas music from traditional carols to a
Christmas Jazz Suite.  Second in a series of free weekly
concerts in the run up to the Bankside Frost Fair.  Local
employees are encouraged to bring along their lunches and
take a seat at one of Better Bankside's pink tables and
chairs.  The Better  Bankside rangers will distribute
information o
n other events such as the Bankside Frost Fair and the Bring
 a Better Christmas appeal. There will also be an opportunit
y to purchase Christmas cards with profits going to char
ity and comment on the Bankside Urban Park proposals.

Friday 8 December
4pm-5pm  at Red Cross Garden,  Redcross Way; free
Join Bankside Open Spaces Trust when the Mayor of Southwark
turns on Red Cross Garden's Christmas tree lights.   Mulled
wine, live music and carols.

CRAFT & DESIGN FAIR AT THE MENIER GALLERY
Friday 8 to Saturday 9 December
10am-6pm at Menier Gallery, 51 Southwark Street
Sale of jewellery, clothing, prints and homeware by over 30
contemporary designers, artists and craftspeople.
Children's activities, seasonal refreshments and a luxury
Christmas raffle with prizes donated by Borough Market
stallholders and other SE1 businesses.

CHRISTMAS MARKET AT SOUTHWARK CATHEDRAL
Saturday 9 December
11am-4pm  at Southwark Cathedral,  London Bridge; free
Stalls selling Christmas decorations, books, jams and mince
pies.  Country crafts include jigsaws and rocking horses.
Also available are Alpaca Knitware, handmade cushions,
quilts, bags, linen, jewellery and paintings.  Souvenir
gifts to raise money for rerstoration of St George the
Martyr are on a special stall.  Children can visit the
Children's Corner to enjoy face painting, puppet making,
teddy tombola and games.  The Roaming Elf is entertaining
children with his balloon modelling magic anf juggling.

UNICORN'S FIRST BIRTHDAY
Saturday 9 December
From 12 noon at Unicorn Theatre, 147 Tooley Street; free
The Unicorn is celebrating its first birthday in Tooley
Street, and Southwark residents are invited to join the
party.  Southwark residents are being offered free tickets
to come to the Unicorn enjoy some great theatre for
families. There are two shows for residents to choose from:
The Gardener Suitable for children aged 5+ Free ticket
performance time: 11am  Journey to the River Sea Suitable
for children aged 7+ Free ticket performance time: 2pm
Southwark residents can claim up to four free tickets for
one of the above specified performances. These tickets can
only be booked by calling the box office on 020 7645 0560
and quoting "Birthday Party" along with full address
details.  Tickets will be allocated on a first come first
served basis, subject to availability. A maximum of four
free tickets per household, and only one performance per
household.  The Unicorn building will be a hive of activity
throughout the day.  From 12 noon there will be:   * Free
face painting * Free balloon modelling * Free drumming
workshops  There are limited places for the drumming
workshops, so these book these free tickets in advance
through the box office when you book your tickets.
