activities and free entertainment with an urban edge.

We�re transforming the campus with grass and hay bales and
the event will be a unique blend of contemporary world
music, traditional activities and games for the whole
family.

You can try your hand at our strength tester, or test your
skills at the coconut shy. For those with a curious streak,
there will also be a range of interactive educational
activities.

ELEPHANT CHANGES: CHANGING ELEPHANT - EXHIBITION AT LCC

Communication,  Elephant & Castle
Photographs taken by local people who have conveyed their
view of the changes taking place at Elephant and Castle. The
photographs document the area and its contrasts, with
particular emphasis on colour and diversity.

DESIGN YOUR OWN GARDEN WORKSHOP FOR 8-10 YEAR-OLDS
Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 July
10am-12 noon at Museum of Garden History,  Lambeth Palace
Road; free (booking essential)
Each child will be asked 'What's your perfect garden? Where
would it be, and what would be in it: flowers, giant snails,
or a football pitch?' Over a series of three morning
workshops each child will work with artist sisters Merrie
and Edwina Ashton to make a book expressing their ideas in
shapes, words, colours and artwork - and take it away with
them. It will give children the chance to show how they
imagine the look, experience and sensation of what is to
them - not to adults - the ideal garden.

THE BOEHM QUARTET: MUSICAL CHAIRS - FINAL WEEK
Thursday 26 July
12.30pm-2.30pm  at Cathedral Square, Montague Close; free
Light entertainment for anyone wishing to escape the office
at lunch time. Local employees are encouraged to bring along
their lunches or buy lunch from Borough Market on the way

SOUTHWARK LGBT HISTORY GUIDED WALK
Thursday 26 July
7pm at The George Inn, 77 Borough High Street; free
Southwark poet and performer John Constable conducts this
free walk especially commissioned for the Southwark LGBT
Network. John reveals the secret history of Southwark's
medieval Liberty with its cross-dressing actors and
prostitutes licensed by Bishops, and performs short excerpts
from The Southwark Mysteries, his own work inspired by it.
This unusual guided tour explores the history of sexual
identity, with particular reference to LGBT-related stories.
You are also Southwark welcome to come and share your own
knowledge and personal anecdotes, to help recover a lost
part of our history. The walk lasts up to 2 hours.

THE VILLAGE FETE
Saturday 28 July
12pm-4pm  at London South Bank University,  Borough Road
London South Bank University is bringing the countryside to
the inner city. Keyworth Street will be closed to traffic
and turfed with lush green grass for an afternoon of
traditional village fete activities and free entertainment
with an urban edge. The event will be a unique blend of
contemporary world music, traditional activities and games
for the whole family. Lots of stalls from local
organisations. Why not come along and try your hand at the
strength tester or test your skills at the coconut shy? For
those with a curious streak there will also be a range of
interactive educational activities including a chance to
explore a mock forensic crime scene.

'Guerrilla Gardener' Alexandra Lockett will lead a team of
children to make a garden/allotment in St Mary's Churchyard,
an open space which is next to the Museum but belongs to
Lambeth Council: mint and mushroom, poppies and
forget-me-knots. At the end of the summer holidays the
children will come back to see the garden they have made; to
build solar ovens; and to cook dinner with what they've
grown. For ages 8-10.
