DEFINE YOUR CITY: THE ARCHITECTURAL CHARACTERS OF LONDON

See six passionate young architects pontificating on
architectural character in London. The Architects' Journal
and Southwark Cathedral have invited a group of speakers
including Patrick Lynch of Lynch Architects, Liza Fior of
muf, Fat's Sam Jacob, Jamie Fobert of Jamie Fobert
Architects and Deborah Saunt of DSDHA to each wrestle with
different articles of faith, from boroughs to infrastructure
and balancing historical analysis with contemporary

WATERLOO CARNIVAL - FESTIVITIES AROUND LOWER MARSH

Annual carnival procession and party in Waterloo. This
year's theme is the Wizard of Oz. Carnival Procession
featuring over 300 performers, along the length of Lower
Marsh, down Westminster Bridge Road and Baylis Road,

NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGY WEEK OPEN DAYS AT ROSE THEATRE SITE

11am-6pm at Rose Theatre Exhibition, 56 Park Street
Visit the site of Bankside's first playhouse. A video with
commentary by Ian McKellen will be shown hourly. Guides will
be available and the souvenir shop open. On both days at 5pm
there will be a talk by Simon Blatherwick, the archaeologist
who helped unearth the Rose in 1989. Also open next weekend.

Short Film: 8.30pm The Elephant Will Never Forget (1953) The
film, completed in London's 'Last Tram Week'. 
At 9pm see We Was All One (1972) - a Thames Television
documentary made as the last of the post war slum clearances
were being made and the Heygate Estate was being completed,
it asks local residents what they think of the new style of
housing. The film examines the loss of community spirit, and
whether the changes are for the worse or better.
