The reassuring chirping of sparrows is becoming harder and harder to hear, but come along to this event and friendly RSPB helpers will show you these lovely birds from the watchpoint and give you lots of information on what you can do to help them. House sparrow numbers have declined by 68 per cent over the past 15 years and the RSPB is working very hard to find out why and to stop this downward trend. There are still a few colonies along the South Bank despite the constant pressures of urban life. The conference room seats 50 people, has a break out area and a separate kitchen. It has natural daylight and is on the first floor. If you require an accessible space on the ground floor this can be arranged. The main hall, dance studio and computer suite are also available to book at a special community rate. To book your FREE 2 hour slot contact Eva Henry on 020 7928 6160 or [email protected] SOUTHWARK AND LAMBETH WOMEN: TRAINING AS DOOR SUPERVISORS Rotherhithe-based COI-Freelance has obtained limited funding to train ladies for the Level 2 National Certificte for Door Supervisors. This qualification is accepted by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) for a licence to work as a Door Supervisor. The firm has also managed to obtain (again limited) funding for the cost of the SIA licence itself. For those that qualify this amounts to about �500 of funding. Places are very limited and there are entry criteria. Funding is only available to ladies who live in either Southwark, Lambeth, Westminster, Camden, Islington, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Haringey, Hackney, Waltham Forest, Enfield or Barnet, and ladies cannot hold a NVQ level 2 qualification or above.
