The display is best viewed from the South Bank between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge It takes a team of eight pyrotechnicians two days to set up more than half a tonne of giant fireworks, some of which shoot over 600ft into the sky before exploding. Throughout the day visitors can upload personal First World War memorabilia to the BBC online remembrance wall, make their own poppy of remembrance and experience what life was like during the war years by meeting characters from the past. St George the Martyr and Precious Blood clergy lead short outdoor service at the memorial outside the Slug & Lettuce in Borough High Street. Followed by laying of wreaths by Borough organisations.
