Short announcements from local organisations

HOSTS URGENTLY NEEDED IN SOUTHWARK
An exciting and unique youth volunteer exchange programme is
due to start in Southwark this month. The Regional Xchange
programme brings young people together, from the UK and
across Africa, and is run in partnership between Voluntary
Services Overseas (VSO) and British Council. The team of
young volunteers will spend over 6000 hours engaged in
community work in organisations and schools across
Southwark.
The programme is urgently seeking people in the area who
have a spare room and could host a pair of volunteers for up
to ten weeks. Hosts are reimbursed to cover basic costs and
food.
This will be an opportunity to make a difference from your
own home and to help young volunteers from across the globe
integrate into Southwark life. Contact programme supervisor,
Jess Kopp, on 07879 848333 or [email protected] for more
information.

HELP TO RECOGNISE EXCEPTIONAL NHS STAFF
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust is asking local
people who have been patients and visitors at its hospitals
to help nominate staff who make an outstanding contribution
to services and care. As part of the Trust awards scheme
there is a People's award that will be chosen by you. So
this is your opportunity to tell the bosses about someone
really special. Perhaps they provided you with excellent
clinical care, offered support at a difficult time or helped
you find your way. To make your nomination contact Karen
Richardson on 020 7188 7352, or email
[email protected] visit
http://www.gstt.nhs.uk/awards or pick up a form around the
hospitals. The closing date for nominations is 5pm on Friday
27 March. A generous grant from Guy's and St Thomas' Charity
helped to make these awards possible.
