Highlights of the programme include Blackfriars Bridge (1896), an extraordinary glimpse of Victorians travelling to work by horse-drawn tram and on foot at an enviably elegant pace. The display is best viewed from the South Bank between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge It takes a team of eight pyrotechnicians two days to set up more than half a tonne of giant fireworks, some of which shoot over 600ft into the sky before exploding. During the Lord Mayor's Show Parade look out for the fire-breathing dragon created by pupils at Bermondsey's City of London Academy.
