HOST HOMES AND VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES ARE NEEDED! For a third year running Southwark has been chosen as the community to host an international Youth Xchange volunteer programme next summer from May to August 2010. A team of twenty-four enthusiastic young volunteers drawn from Yemen, Morocco, Egypt, Netherlands, Bosnia and the UK will live and work in Southwark as part of a cross cultural exchange and will complete over 6000 hours of voluntary work. The team will have spent three months living and volunteering in a community in Egypt before their arrival in Southwark. The Multilateral Youth Xchange is an exciting six-month exchange programme for 18-25 year olds, run in partnership by the British Council and VSO. The programme is designed to be fully reciprocal and gives young people the opportunity to really make a difference in a developing country as well as a UK community. UK programme supervisor Geors Richards is currently looking for host homes for the volunteers during their stay, "If you have a spare room and would like to be part of this exciting international cultural experience, please get in touch.
