Short announcements from local organisations.

HOST HOMES AND VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES ARE NEEDED!
For a third year running Southwark has been chosen as the
community to host an international Youth Xchange volunteer
programme next summer from May to August 2010.

A team of twenty-four enthusiastic young volunteers drawn
from Yemen, Morocco, Egypt, Netherlands, Bosnia and the UK
will live and work in Southwark as part of a cross cultural
exchange and will complete over 6000 hours of voluntary
work. The team will have spent three months living and
volunteering in a community in Egypt before their arrival in
Southwark.

The Multilateral Youth Xchange is an exciting six-month
exchange programme for 18-25 year olds, run in partnership
by the British Council and VSO. The programme is designed
to be fully reciprocal and gives young people the
opportunity to really make a difference in a developing
country as well as a UK community.

UK programme supervisor Geors Richards is currently looking
for host homes for the volunteers during their stay,

"If you have a spare room and would like to be part of this
exciting international cultural experience, please get in
touch. A financial contribution of 100 per week will be
made towards the cost of taking a pair of volunteers"

Geors is also looking for volunteering opportunities for the
team next summer,

"If your organisation could use volunteers or you have any
suggestions for voluntary work this young enthusiastic
multicultural team could do to benefit your community during
their stay then please get in touch"

For more information about this exciting multilateral Youth
Xchange programme and opportunities to be involved please
contact UK programme supervisor Geors Richards: 07785 741395
