OUR LATIN THING (NUESTRA COSA) - FILM SCREENING AT ELEPHANT
Wednesday 30 November
8pm (doors 7pm) at La Bodeguita, Elephant & Castle Shopping

A cinematic and musical celebration of Latin culture through
a screening of the most famous documentary of New York Latin
music in the 1970s, held in La Bodeguita at the Elephant &
Castle Shopping Centre. Directed by Oscar winner Leon Gast
('When We Were Kings'). Starring Willie Colon, Ray Barretto
and "El Cantante" Hector Lavoe, the footage is spliced with
atmospheric street scenes in Spanish Harlem. This screening
is held to celebrate the film's first official release on
DVD by Strut / Fania.

MERCY SHIPS CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE

A carol service in aid of the work of the Africa Mercy - the
world's largest charity hospital ship. With the Southwark
Cathedral Girls' Choir and the Gentlemen of the Choir.

THE stockMKT - NIGHT MARKET IN BERMONDSEY SQUARE
Friday 2 December
5pm-10pm at Bermondsey Square
Bermondsey Square embraces the Christmas spirit this year
with night market accompanied by carol singing and the
lighting of the Christmas tree. The StockMKT is inspired by
the night markets of the Far East. It will feature a
delicious variety of food by the capital's most passionate
and inspirational street food vendors. Stalls will include
artisan jewellery, crafts, furniture and clothing - vintage
meets contemporary - as well as music and entertainment to
surprise and delight.

POP-UP BOOKSTALL IN TRINITY CHURCH SQUARE

daylight hours (weather permitting) at Trinity Church Square
Lots of secondhand books, fiction and non-fiction for sale
outside 57 Trinity Church Square. Most books cost 50p. Also
CDs. Stock will change each time, so it is worth coming
back. Proceeds in aid of Trinity Newington Residents'

OPEN STUDIOS IN WATERLOO

11am-6pm at Make Space Studios,  Newnham Terrace; free
Situated trackside on the way into Waterloo Station, Make
Space has taken some once abandoned and derelict buildings
and converted them into an inspirational creative space.
Having open studios allows the public to see into the
otherwise private creative space of an artist, enabling you
to view both work and practices in progress from ceramics to
fashion design, Glass slumping and mosaic work, along with
fine art practices of painting, sculpture and illustration.
It is also an excellent opportunity to buy unique and
interesting gifts - just in time for Christmas.

In 2012 we will be celebrating our 125th anniversary of
creating opportunities with our local community across
Borough, Bankside, West Bermondsey and Waterloo.

We run services for children, for young people, older
people, for those who use mental health services and for
those seeking further education. 

WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR ALL OUR FUTURES

With our NEW CENTRE opening in 2012/13, we are looking for
volunteer trustees to represent local cultures, genders and
age groups in order to help us meet the challenges of the
next few years.

If you can offer your time, skills or experience,
particularly  local knowledge, community needs, finance and
development, marketing or fundraising please do give us a
call.

You are also welcome to our AGM on Thursday 1 December 2011
where you can meet other trustees, staff and users of our
services.
