PUBLIC MEETING ON FIRE SERVICE CUTS IN SOUTHWARK
Wednesday 1 May
6pm-8pm at Committee Room 1, City Hall, The Queen's Walk
The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) is
currently consulting on its new London Safety Plan. The
leader of Southwark Council, Cllr Peter John, and the London
Assembly member for Lambeth and Southwark, Val Shawcross AM,
are hosting a meeting at City Hall with people in the
borough to discuss what this will mean for the borough and
how you can get involved in the consultation. Southwark
Council is very concerned about the proposal to close
Southwark Fire Station and to reduce the number of pumps at
Peckham Fire Station. In addition, closures in places like
New Cross will also affect the number of pumps and speed of
response to incidents in Southwark. This meeting will be an
opportunity to find out more about the proposals and what
you can do to ensure your voice is heard. This meeting is
being held two weeks before LFEPA holds its official
consultation meeting at City Hall.
