The early evening Prince of Thebes show is aimed at a family audience and those encountering Oedipus for the first time. The company's blend of comedy, adventure, music and puppetry will introduce you to the young Prince as he thwarts magical and mortal enemies in his quest to lift an evil spell. As twilight gathers around More London, older audiences are invited to discover the terrible fate of the adult Oedipus and his children in a vivid new production combining masterpieces by Aeschylus and Sophocles. Chronicling the downfall of the Theban Royal family this epic story of a proud father and daughter battling the gods for survival echoes down the centuries and asks us to consider the role destiny plays in all our lives. She explores themes and sources as diverse as the medieval story of the Green Children of Woolpit, therapeutic writing in a Brighton primary school, and the 1979 'Misty' annual. Hannah Eaton is the author of the graphic novel, "Naming Monsters'. She offers a poetic explanation of how existing folkloric bogeys could be used to talk about feelings that are otherwise impossible to articulate or are unspeakable. She will also be showing some folklore she made up herself, and asking whether it is OK to take the oral tradition into your own hands! The walk ends at the Angel pub on the riverside. The view from the pub would be even finer if the statue of Dr Alfred Salter was still on the bench next door. After the statue was stolen in November 2011, a group of local people formed a campaign to raise funds for new statues of Dr Salter and his wife, Ada. All proceeds from this walk will go to the Salter Statues Campaign. Nigel of Bermondsey is a South London singer-songwriter, storyteller and folklorist. He sings songs about Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Walworth, Wapping, Bloomsbury, the Royal Parks, London under and over.
