At 11am Sue Sanders (founder of LGBT History Month), introduced by Maggi Hambling, will be talking about the need for LGBT History Month as a tool in educating out prejudice and informing a group about their history. At 1pm Southwark Police's LGBT liaison officer will talk about how to report a hate crime. At 2pm Metro@30 discuss 30 years of serving the LGBT communities. See the work created by more than 100 participants in last autumn's workshop on the Whites Grounds Estate. Following the exhibition, the pieces will be assembled into a permanent sculpture bringing together the collective creativity of the community workshops. The finished piece will be installed on Whites Grounds Estate towards the end of the year. Save the Rose, a film shot on VHS by local resident Richard Miller, brilliantly captures the atmosphere and tension which built during the day and on into the evening as Simon Hughes MP, Sam Wanamaker, Simon Jenkins and others addressed the campaign rally to ensure the site was preserved for future generations. The screening includes a newly-edited version of the film, together with an introductory talk by Richard Miller on his impressions of the Bankside area in the 1980s, the subsequent discovery of the theatre remains and the making of his film.
