This eye opening event enables you to: * Sit in an HGV cab and find out how you can keep safe * Get your bike security marked by the Met Police for free * Receive a FREE Dr Bike service. The event takes place in Rennie Street, between Christ Church and Stamford Street. There's no need to book for the HGV training but please pre-book a your Dr Bike slot by emaling [email protected] with your preferred 15 minute slot. This will also be an opportunty to learn more about Transport for London's proposals for a continuous, largely segregated cycle route through central London. The North-South Cycle Superhighway would run between Elephant & Castle and King's Cross, via Blackfriars Road. Info & map: http://www.London-SE1.co.uk/whatson/event/16102 NEW CANCER CENTRE AT GUY'S: DROP-IN EVENT Wednesday 1 October 5pm-7pm at Robens Suite, 29th floor, Tower Wing, Guy's Hospital, Great Maze Pond; free Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust are building a new Cancer Centre at Guy's Hospital. To find out more, come along to this drop-in event to meet the project team, staff from building contractors Laing O'Rourke, Cancer Centre Appeal team and King's Health Partners who will share their five year plan and the outcomes books for the Clinical Academic Groups (CAGs). There will be a radiotherapy simulator set up with staff on hand to talk through its functionality. The location of the radiotherapy treatment will be on the 2nd floor of the new Cancer Centre rather than in the basement following patient feedback � the only centre in the UK to do so. Dr Cheryl Gillett will be discussing the benefits and importance of the Bio Bank that will be in the new Cancer Centre. Full programme: http://www.elefest.org HARVEST SALE Thursday 2 October 11.30am-1pm at Market Hall, Borough Market, 8 Southwark Street Local school children from Southwark and neighbouring boroughs will be giving the market's regular traders a run for their money when they set up stalls with their own seasonal produce grown and nurtured from seed. The pupils learned their green-fingered techniques from the best in the business, Blue Peter gardener, Chris Collins. They have been working very hard tending their crops and learning exactly how food goes from seed, to marketplace, to plate. All the proceeds from the pupils' veg sales will be donated to FareShare, an award winning charity which seeks to relieve food poverty by rescuing good food that would otherwise go to waste. Come along and take a look at the photos, films and recordings from the last amnesty event as well as the combined work of the project from the last six months.
