Jo Furber is Swansea Council's Literature Officer, and is based at the city's Dylan Thomas Centre, where she curates the permanent Dylan Thomas Exhibition and runs the Centre's arts programme. In this talk, she'll give an overview of Dylan Thomas' life and work, and his importance to his "ugly, lovely town" of Swansea. Part of the Rhyme and Reason 6 poetry festival. For this event she will be performing work from her latest book Telling Tales - a retelling of Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales for the 21st century. Mining the Middle-English masterwork for its performance as well as its poetry and pilgrims, her boisterous and lyrical collection gives one of Britain's most significant works of poetry thrilling new life.
