Elan Meeting Rooms is a newly refurbished meeting space in
SE1 suitable for Board meetings, Seminars, Meetings and
Workshops. 

We are conveniently located in Central London near London
Bridge Station, at Royal Oak Yard, just off 156 Bermondsey
Street.  The seminar room is very well located on the ground
floor, with direct access from the main entrance to the
building. The room is light and airy and well ventilated,
holding up to 12 people seated for boardroom style as well
as for seminar style and can be hired hourly, for a half 
or full day.

The room includes a 50 inch high definition flat screen TV 
to be used for projection. There is free wifi and plenty 
of cat5 and electrical points. There is flexibility with 
the table and chair arrangements to suit your requirements. 

Whether you are looking for somewhere to host a seminar or a
very professional space to present to clients, Elan meeting
rooms offer a variety of meeting options at very reasonable
prices.

Tea, coffee, beverages and catering for light lunches can be
ordered in from the nearby coffee shop upon request.

MECHANICAL DRAWING
Wednesday 2 December
7pm-9pm  at Kirkaldy Testing Museum, 99 Southwark Street;
Suggested donation �7 to cover a donation to the museum and
costs
A chance to draw in an unusual and historic Victorian
testing and experimenting workshop in a grade two listed
building in Southwark. The purpose built rooms still house
the equipment of the Kirkaldy Testing Works, including the
original testing machine. As well as the main machine, the
space contains lots of samples of test materials and other
interesting little engineering related objects. Please note:
This is not a taught workshop. Artists of all abilities are
welcome to come and sketch and if you're a beginner Tom will
be happy to give some pointers. We're hoping to hold some
taught classes in the New Year. Please bring your own

BOROUGH MARKET CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH-ON
Wednesday 2 December
Follows on from 5.30pm Christingle Service in Southwark
Cathedral
Best-selling authors Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley will turn
on 3,000 metres of sparkling lights that will bring to life
a series of decorations, wreaths and garlands to kick start
the festive season at Borough Market. The Hemsleys will join
traders and customers as they gather around Borough Market's
20ft Christmas tree in Middle Road where they'll hit the
switch in the spectacular setting, bathing the 1,000 year
old market in light. Borough Market traders Cartwright
Brothers will be serving mulled wine from 6pm whilst
Konditor & Cook will provide mince pies, available to
attendees on a first come, first served basis.

FREE LUNCHTIME CONCERT
Thursday 3 December
1pm at St George the Martyr,  Borough High Street; free
Trinity Laban Flute Ensemble - pieces by David Heath. The
recital lasts approx 45 minutes, followed by light
refreshments and a chance to meet the artist. Audience

BACH TO BABY CHRISTMAS CONCERT: THE FOUR SEASONS
Friday 4 December

Bach to Baby is brought to you by award-winning concert
pianist and local mum Miaomiao Yu. The idea is simply to
bring adults and kids of all ages together for a lively
morning of music. Suitable for both under 5s and under 95s.
This Christmas concert features Lucy Jeal, violin, Alexander
Somov, cello & Miaomiao Yu, piano. Programme includes
Vivaldi's 'Winter' and Piazzolla's Four Seasons - his
passionate tango tribute to Vivaldi's masterpiece. Plus some
favourite Christmas carols too.

Organised by the Friends of Southwark Cathedral, this year's
fair runs for three days and will feature a wide range of

UNSETTLED ACCOUNTS: BOOK LAUNCH

7pm at Bankside Community Space, 18 Great Guildford Street
Tony Lucas - local writer and former rector of St George the
Martyr - is launching a new collection of his poetry -
'Unsettled Accounts' - published by Stairwell Books. At this
launch event there will be guest readers and maybe some
music. This is a major collection of Tony's work, gathering
together many pieces that have been magazines and
anthologies over the past decade or so. The book will be
available from the usual outlets - ISBN 978-1-939269-38-6.

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL

Southwark Salvation Army Community Church is�hosting�its
first ever Christmas Tree Festival. The church promises a
colourful, imaginative and creative display of decorated

or hidden miniature elves in the area. But watch out, the
Elf Catcher is also on the look-out for them too, no doubt

GABRIEL'S WHARF MAGICAL CHRISTMAS

ARCHITECTURE ON THE THAMES CENTRAL CHRISTMAS TOUR
Saturday 5 December

Open-City architecture boat tour led by Benedict O'Looney.
Departing from Festival Pier, the tour will first go
upstream to Nine Elms, taking in Battersea Power Station,
and Foster's Studio. Then downstream past Michael Hopkins's
imposing Portcullis House, iconic Somerset House (Sir
William Chambers/Dixon Jones), Renzo Piano's hulking Shard,
and underneath colourfully lit bridges including Tower
Bridge, where a new illumination to mark the 2012 Olympics
replaced the first significant illumination of 25 years. The
new vertical towers of the City tower above the lower
riverbank architecture creating a dramatic skyline from our
unique river perspective.

Performing Architectures � Andreas Skourtis joined by
theatre director Konstantinos Ntellas, artist Panos
Andrianos, actress Christina Kapadocha and a team of
production assistants, invite you to visit a scenography-led
performance/installation simultaneously takes place and
builds at Hotel Elephant in London SE1, a flat in the same
block, and Andreas' olive grove in Greece. A real time
on-line projection, names on olive trees, an "in-progress"
installation on both "stages", olive oil dispensed: a
scenography of linked geographies and physical memories.
Andreas Skourtis is a practicing Scenographer, Architect,
and Lecturer in Scenography at the Royal Central School of
Speech and Drama. In the Prague Quadrennial 2011 he won a
Gold Medal for "Best Work in Theatre Architecture and
Performance Space". He lives in London SE1.
