The purpose built rooms still house the equipment of the Kirkaldy Testing Works, including the original testing machine. As well as the main machine, the space contains lots of samples of test materials and other interesting little engineering related objects. Please note: This is not a taught workshop. Artists of all abilities are welcome to come and sketch and if you're a beginner Tom will be happy to give some pointers. We're hoping to hold some taught classes in the New Year. The Hemsleys will join traders and customers as they gather around Borough Market's 20ft Christmas tree in Middle Road where they'll hit the switch in the spectacular setting, bathing the 1,000 year old market in light. Borough Market traders Cartwright Brothers will be serving mulled wine from 6pm whilst Konditor & Cook will provide mince pies, available to attendees on a first come, first served basis. At this launch event there will be guest readers and maybe some music. This is a major collection of Tony's work, gathering together many pieces that have been magazines and anthologies over the past decade or so. A real time on-line projection, names on olive trees, an "in-progress" installation on both "stages", olive oil dispensed: a scenography of linked geographies and physical memories. Andreas Skourtis is a practicing Scenographer, Architect, and Lecturer in Scenography at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. In the Prague Quadrennial 2011 he won a Gold Medal for "Best Work in Theatre Architecture and Performance Space". He lives in London SE1.
